WINNSBORO – Celebration of Fairfield Central volleyball’s lone senior, Martha Gibson, was a highlight in an otherwise dismal match last Thursday.
The Griffins hosted region opponent Indian Land for the regular season finale. The Warriors dominated Fairfield to the tune of 25-8, 25-5 and 25-11 wins to clinch the 3-0 victory. Indian Land finished with a 10-0 record in region action.
Despite a testing season, the Griffins were awarded a four-seed in the Class AAA State Playoffs. Fairfield traveled to top-seeded Woodruff for round one on Wednesday, but scores were not available at press time.
A win will set the Griffins up for a round-two game on Oct. 28.
