Redhawks clinch 3rd Region title in a row

BLYTHEWOOD – Another game, another win for the Westwood volleyball program. They clinched their third Region title in a row last Thursday with a 3-0 win over Lancaster High School. The Redhawks took down the Bruins 25-18, 25-7 and 25-11.

Tuesday’s match against York provided more of a challenge for Westwood, but the Redhawks prevailed in game five to notch their ninth region win of the season. Westwood took set one 25-15 but lost 25-20 in the second set. They won in a dominating 25-11 third set, but York bounced back to take a 25-22 win in set four. Westwood closed out the match with a decisive 15-6 win.

The Redhawks will honor seniors at home on Thursday in their final match of the season against Richland Northeast. First serve is set for 6:30 p.m.

After their run through conference play, the Redhawks look to have a bye in the first round of the playoffs and should host their first match of the 4A State tournament on Oct. 29 at 6 p.m.
