Eagles wrap up second season

COLUMBIA – Heathwood Hall was the setting for SCISA’s 2019 Cross Country State Championship meets on Nov. 2. Richard Winn Academy’s program, in its second year, sent nine runners to compete.

The Eagle boys team finished 14th place of the 16 teams competing with a 28:22 average time. Junior Austin Robinson was the first finisher for Richard Winn, coming in at 20:36.61 for a 35th place finish of 114 runners. Robinson cut almost three minutes from his time at last year’s state meet, when he finished 49th of 88 runners at 23:33.97. Lawson Wade followed on Robinson’s heels for a 37th place finish and a time of 20:44.66. Ethan Dean finished third for the Eagles, followed by Roman Hawkins and Logan Steed.

In the girls 5000 meter finals, Caitlyn Talbert took top honors for the Eagles, finishing 32nd overall out of 55 runners with a time of 27:58.29. Zoe Mitsakos followed closely with a 27:59.14 finish for 33rd overall. Ella Grace Harrison finished 39th at 29:19.61 and Mary Stegall-Smith rounded out the Eagle runners.
