Griffins go 2-1 in Holiday Tourney

CAMDEN – After a tight 44-32 loss to Darlington in the day one of tournament action, Fairfield Central girls bounced back with wins over Lakewood (55-33) and South Aiken (38-27) to finish the Camden Holiday Tournament with a 2-1 record.

Sophomore Deasia Feaster finished the tournament with 32 points, leading the Griffins with 17 against Lakewood and 11 against South Aiken. Feaster averaged 12 rebounds and three steals per game in the three-day tournament.

Junior Jamaria Sampson put up 23 points, 15 assists and 10 steals. She had tournament-high assists (8) against Lakewood and steals (6) against South Aiken.

Like Sampson, senior Cristin Gray had 23 points, but also put up big numbers in rebounds and blocks. Gray averaged 12 rebounds per game and 3.67 blocks per game.

Sophomore Madisen Belton had a tournament-high 11 points in Fairfield’s win over Lakewood.

The Griffins return to regular-season action on Jan. 10 against Keenan High School.
