WINNSBORO – A partnership between Fairfield County Schools and Richard Winn Academy that allows Richard Winn students the opportunity to attend the Fairfield Career and Technology Center has been reestablished.

Richard Winn Head of School Kristen Chaisson said 12 sophomores and juniors are enrolled in the courses in auto body, firefighting and welding,

“It gives them the opportunity to explore different career options outside of what our school offers so they can know better what they want to do in their life,” Chaisson said.

The school’s dean of students, Misty Mathis, acknowledged that not all students want to go to college and these courses allow them to explore other careers. She said the certification students can earn in these classes could enable them to find jobs to help support themselves during college years.
