Letter: Thanks for Your Blood

A blood drive sponsored by Fairfield High Alumni exceeded is goal. Held at the former Fairfield High School on May 29, our goal was to collect 20 pints. We are happy to say that we collected 21 pints.

Lloyd Pridgeon even made a Power Red donation – a donation of two units of red blood cells during one donation. We appreciated this special donation from Lloyd. A special machine is required to collect Power Red and it takes about half an hour longer to collect than it takes to collect whole blood.

While a total of 26 donors came out, six were unable to donate.

We want to thank all who participated in one way or another to make our drive a success.  We especially want to thank our wonderful group of Red Cross workers who were a pleasure to work with. They are:  Mercy Fisher (Charge), Antionette Haskins (Power Red), Linda Dormino-Allen and Bernice Smith.

Also, thanks to Red Cross blood drive account representative Allison Balash for working with me in organizing the blood drive.

Thanks to William Pearson of Pearson Appliance Repair for helping with sign-in and as a Red Cross volunteer as well as for donating blood.

Thanks to the alumni who helped me sign in donors: Edwina Goodman, Carolyn Richmond and Janie Davis.

And, finally, thanks to all the alumni members who donated and especially to all the firsttime donors.
