BLYTHEWOOD – After Broom Heating, Air and Electrical’s successful holiday food drive (“Let’s Can Hunger Together”) for Christian Assistance Bridge (CAB) during November, the company has announced it will make the food drive an annual event to take place ever year in November, Broom’s president Kevin Williamson said.
“We’ve been extremely blessed at Broom,” Williamson said. “We know many other small businesses, restaurants and families have not fared as well. So, we were looking for a way to give back to our amazing town and community in a way that would help those struggling at this time of year.”
That search coincided with CAB’s 12 Days of Giving celebration that kicked off on Nov. 30 with a daily video of a family or business’ donation story. CAB’s 12 days of videos ran though Dec. 11. Brooms donation story aired on the 4th Day of Giving.
During November, Broom collected a total of 255 cans from donations made by customers and neighbors. For every can donated, Broom gave a $2 credit (up to $20) that could be used for any of the company’s services. Plus, Broom matched the canned donations.
“As a result, we were able to donate a total of 510 cans to Christian Assistance Bridge,” Williams said. “This year, the simple statement “We are all in this together,” is so very true. We at Broom Heating, Air and Electrical hope that God blesses all those needing assistance during this Christmas season,” he said.
“We want to thank everyone for their food donations, their business and for helping others in our community that need a little support this year,” Williams said.
Broom Heating, Air and Electrical, located at 1232 Blythewood Road, is celebrating 50 years in business this year.
