George “Bones” S. Boulware

WINNSBORO – George “Bones” Boulware peacefully transitioned on January 1, 2021 at Providence Health in Winnsboro, SC. Bones was born on September 22, 1954 in Winnsboro, South Carolina to the late Willie Boulware, Sr. and Elouise Williams Boulware and was reared in a loving Christian home.

He attended the public schools of Fairfield County where he was a graduate of Winnsboro High School, Class of 1972. After graduating from high school, Bones joined the U.S. Navy where he served until he was honorably discharged in August, 1976.

Memorial Service for George “Bones” Boulware was held on January 6, 2021 at Nelson’s Funeral Home Chapel followed with interment at Fort Jackson National Cemetery in Columbia, SC.

At an early age, Bones joined Bethlehem AME Church where he served in various organizations throughout the church. He was a dedicated and faithful member while he was a part of Bethlehem and while his health allowed. In later years, he became a part of Speak To My Heart Ministry under the leadership of Pastor Christopher Nelums.

Bones married his high school sweetheart, Helen Qualls, on June 1, 1974 and were happily married for 46 years and to this union two daughters were born.

After returning home from the Navy, Bones enrolled in Midland’s Technical College where he earned a degree in Computer Programming and Accounting. He went on to work for Blue Cross Blue Shield, PMSC, and the SC Tax Commission.

After leaving the workforce, Bones spent his time as an assistant coach and head coach of the Lady Griffin’s Tennis Team at Fairfield Central High School. He coached the Tennis Team for ten years.

Bones is survived by his devoted wife and caregiver, Helen Qualls Boulware; two daughters, LaWanda (Casey) Qualls of Elgin, SC and LaTracy “Tracy” Boulware of Myrtle Beach, SC; eight sisters, Etta Boston, Annie Mae Foster, Ester (Johnny) Pope, Charlotte (Ronald) Jordan, Evonne (Calvin) Mobley, Diane Henderson, Toteresa (Sam) Asare, and Bernadette (Rev. Corey) Jackson; four brothers, Willie (Deloris) Boulware, Jr., Samuel (Marlene) Boulware, Issac (Cheryl) Boulware, and Timothy (Vetrick) Bouleware; six sisters-in-law, Ophelia Q. Bell, Carolyne Qualls, Lallie M. Qualls, Marquerita B. Qualls, and Hazeline M. Qualls and Catherine Q. Murphy; three brothers-in-law, Eddie Qualls, Jr., Deacon Jimmie Lee Qualls, and Leon Qualls; a host of neices, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Bones was a man of strong faith, a fighter, and inspiration to so many. Along with his enjoyment of coaching for years, he also enjoyed playing several musical instruments.

Bones was preceded in death by his grandson, Hayden C. Qualls.
