Griffin dancers, musicians feature Harlem Renaissance ‘rebirth’

WINNBORO – Fairfield Central High School Dance Director Brittany Johnson directed and choreographed one of the snappiest little dance videos you’re going to see in downtown Winnsboro.

While it’s ‘now showing’ on The Voice’s and Johnson’s Facebook pages as well as many other shares, it was filmed by Homebase Films in the Good Vibes Sports Bar on South Congress Street and videographer was Dweh Brown, according to the credits that roll at the end of the show.

The video stars not only Johnson’s dance students, but the FCHS Jazz Ensemble, directed by FCHS band director Sir Davis, saxophone soloist JayShawn Middleton and others.

Dance students include: Aleena Artis, Antonio Benjamin, Morgan Belton, Tazyra Doctor, Nicole Gantt, Mariah McCoogan, Jada Thompson, Chanelle Woodard and Zamida Yarborough.

Johnson calls the video “our first concept video, Harlem Renaissance: The Rebirth, Episode 1.”

“I am overwhelmed by the beauty and success of this project,” Johnson posted on her Facebook page along with the film. “It is truly the Rebirth, as I reflect on how the hard work and love poured into this.”

She says there are more to come. Let’s hope.
