Locketta B. Stephenson

LANCASTER – Mrs. Locketta B. Stephenson passed away on August 10, 2021 from heart failure.

She was born in October 1938, at Providence Hospital in Columbia SC to Frances Edwards Boswell and Jerrold Boswell. She lived in Columbia with her grandparents until she was 6 years old, and then she went to Winnsboro to live with her mother and stepfather. She attended Mount Zion Institute in Winnsboro and then Winthrop University for 2 years, and then she married her husband, Bob Stephenson. She was preceded in death by her parents and stepfather, and by one son, John Keith Stephenson. She is survived by her husband, Bob, and 2 sons, Robert Stephenson, Jr and his wife Jennifer, and William and his wife, Margaret. Three granddaughters, Blair, Lauren, and Kathryn Grace, and by 2 half-sisters, and 2 half-brothers, and a special granddaughter, Mallory McDow.

Locketta was an active member of First Presbyterian Church, serving on numerous committees and as a Sunday school teacher and circle chairperson. She was also a Stephen Minister. She, along with her husband, Bob, helped to start the Kirkin of The Tartan service.

The Celebration of Life Memorial Service for Locketta was 2:00 pm Monday, August 16, 2021, at First Presbyterian Church officiated by Rev. Edgar McCall.  Entombment followed at Lancaster Memorial Park Mausoleum.

The family received friends from 1:00 – 2:00 pm, one hour prior to the service, at First Presbyterian Church.
