WINNSBORO – Nancy McIntosh Williams, 83, passed away on October 12, 2021, at the McCall Hospice House, in Simpsonville, South Carolina.
Mrs. Williams was born on April 3, 1938 in Ashland, Kentucky to the late Walter Cleveland and Bess Bryant McIntosh. Mrs. Williams graduated from Russell High School. She later attended Union College, in Barbourville, Kentucky, graduating with a degree in Education. Mrs. Williams taught school briefly in Michigan, and later in Louisville, Kentucky.
Mrs. Williams was the devoted wife of the late Dr. Charles O. Williams, Jr. Dr. Williams practiced dentistry in Winnsboro from 1966 until 2004. For the majority of that time, Mrs. Williams worked in her husband’s office and managed his dental practice.
Mrs. Williams was an active member of St. John’s Episcopal Church. At St. John’s, she sang in the choir, served on the Altar Guild, served as a warden and was a past president of the Episcopal Church Women’s group. Mrs. Williams was a member of the ZuZammen Book Club, the Anemone Garden Club, the Winnsboro Music Study Club, and the Winnsboro Cotillion. She also served as a Docent at the South Carolina Governor’s Mansion under former Governor James B. Edwards.
Mrs. Williams was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She deeply loved her family and her church, and served both faithfully for her entire life. She was also a great supporter of Richard Winn Academy, where both her children attended. Mrs. Williams loved Edisto Beach, and spent as much time there as possible. She and Dr. Williams were members of the Edisto Island Yacht Club and the Edisto Island Open Land Trust.
Mrs. Williams is survived by her daughter, Cristin McIntosh Williams, and her partner Ian Stedman, of Oakland, California, her son and daughter-in-law, Charles O. “Bo” Williams, III, and Mary McQueen “MaryMac” Williams of Greenville, South Carolina, three grandchildren, Walter Groves Williams, Ella Sitton Williams and Mary-Beatrice McQueen Williams, her brother Phillip Gordon McIntosh (Barb) of Fort Myers, Florida, her nieces Amy McIntosh Biber (Carl) of Wilmington, North Carolina and Cheri McIntosh Rice (Paul) of Canton, Ohio.
Mrs. Williams was predeceased by her husband of 39 years, Dr. Charles O. Williams, Jr., of Winnsboro.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Williams will be held at 11 o’clock AM Saturday, October 16, 2021 at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Winnsboro. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends immediately following the burial at St. John’s.
