Winnsboro kicks off Christmas on Sunday

WINNSBORO – The first Christmas parade of the season will be the Winnsboro parade this Sunday, Nov. 28. It will start at 5:15 p.m. with the theme, Winter Wonderland. Those who would like to participate can contact the Fairfield County Chamber of Commerce at 803-635-4242 or email [email protected] for a registration form. To participate, entries must be decorated for the holiday. Prizes will be awarded for several categories of best entries.

Following the parade will be the town Christmas Tree Lighting and a visit with Santa under the Town Clock. And stores will be open late for holiday shopping. For more information email [email protected].

Ridgeway Parade

The Ridgeway Christmas Parade will start at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 5 with the theme of ‘A Season of Hope.’ It will be the third straight day of Christmas festivities for the town with the tree lighting at 5 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 3, at 170 S. Dogwood Avenue. Visit the Lights on the Ridge rom 5 – 7:30, p.m. and a free carriage ride through downtown Ridgeway. Top the weekend off with a day of holiday shopping and dining out in downtown Ridgeway on Saturday, Dec. 4.

Holiday Theater

Pine Tree Playhouse presents “A Pine Tree Christmas” on Dec. 3, 4 and 5. Celebrate the season with a Musical Comedy Variety Show directed by Andi Phipps.  Friday & Saturday performances at 8 p.m., Sunday at 3 p.m., $10 per person.  The theater is located at 230 S Congress St.  Winnsboro.

Shop Small

Don’t forget, wherever you are on Saturday – Winnsboro or Ridgeway – Shop Small. It’s the national day to support small businesses by shopping them at Christmas.  Local merchants will have special sales and events during the day. Drawings for prizes and surprises too.

Santa Train Rides

On December 4, 11, & 18, treat the whole family to the Santa Train Rides at the South Carolina Railroad Museum.  Santa returns to the Rockton, Rion and Western Railroad. Tickets are $20 for all ages 3 and up. Children 2 and under are expected to sit in a parent’s lap. Caboose rental is limited to a maximum of 10 people per caboose and starts at $125. Masks are recommended for everyone 3 and older. Rides at 10, 11 AM, Noon, 2 & 3 p.m. Reservations online at www.scrm.org.
