Griffins run in Lowcountry Invitational

JOHNS ISLAND – Griffin runners spent Saturday in the Lowcountry, competing against runners from 48 schools in South Carolina and Georgia.

Hank White again led Fairfield runners with a 38th place finish out of 300 runners. White clocked a 17:11.31 finish. Kaleb Burroughs from West Florence High School claimed first place with a 15:46.78 finish.

Though the Griffin boys finished in 27th place out of 37 teams, four of the top five finishers had season best times. Sidney Wilson, Parker Douglas, Krishi Patel and Brenton Mack each had their fastest times of the season.

Wilson finished second for Fairfield at 19:32.68; Douglas had a time of 21:20:32; Patel finished at 22:33.48; and Mack finished at 22:36.87. Behind Mack, Jared Dixon also had a season-best finish at 25:25.65.

The Griffin girls had only three runners and did not qualify a team score. SaKira Hayes led the girls with a 26:33.00 finish, her season best. Teairra McDuffie also ran her fastest time of the season at 27.33.90. Brittany Mack rounded out Griffin runners at 31:27.52.

Fairfield will break for the week before running again at the Wendy’s Invitational on Oct. 7 in Charlotte.
