Charles Edward Kelly

BLYTHEWOOD – Charles Edward Kelly, Jr., 73, of Blythewood, SC, passed away peacefully on the evening of November 30, 2023 with his loving wife Faye by his side.

Mr. Kelly was born in Columbia, SC and was a son of the late Charles E. Kelly, Sr. and Susie Rogers Kelly.

He retired from US Foods and was a member of Sandy Level Baptist Church. He served in the US Army from July 1969 to July 1975. He earned a National Defense Medal; expert (rifle M-16).

Charles was a kind, loving and giving man. He had a great sense of humor and was always giving to others within his family and to his friends. He was the kind man that would give you the shirt off of his back if you needed it.

He and his beloved wife, Faye were always going on adventures together. They went to so many places together and particularly loved to go to national parks and historic places. He loved all his family and friends so much, but the absolute love of his life was his beloved Faye. They were married for 44 years but had been together almost 50 years – they had a love for the ages.

Surviving are his wife, Faye Kelly; his brother, Roy Kelly and his wife, Missy of Virginia Beach, VA; his sister, Linda Kelly, of Columbia, SC; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his siblings, Bobbie Kelly Hanna; Donnie Kelly; Jennie Kelly Starnes and Patsy Kelly.

The funeral service for Mr. Kelly will be held at 11 o’clock, Wednesday, December 6th, at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext., Columbia. Burial will follow in Crescent Hill Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 o’clock, Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
