
BLYTHEWOOD – The Westwood girls basketball team blunted a three-game Region 5-5A losing streak with three straight wins.
The Redhawks (9-11, 3-3) beat Lugoff-Elgin 57-48 Jan. 14, West Florence 67-25 Friday, and Sumter 47-39 Monday night. The victory over the Knights was head coach Gregory Bauldrick’s 200th career win.
Bauldrick, who brought the girls to a 4A state championship appearance in 2023, led the team to five straight region championships from 2019-2023.
The boys (15-3, 3-3) fell 59-57 at Lugoff-Elgin, beat West Florence 68-34, and fell at Sumter 48-39.
Westwood plays at Blythewood Friday night.
