Former BHS standouts to host volleyball camps

COLUMBIA – It’s not every day that youth athletes have the opportunity to learn from top collegiate athletes. But local volleyball players will have two chances next weekend.

Blythewood High School alumni Isabella Bell and Gabby Waden are partnering to guest coach camps on Friday, Feb. 7 and Saturday, Feb. 8.

Bell, who played volleyball for the University of Kentucky, is a four-time SEC Champion and 2020 NCAA National Champion.  Waden was named All-SEC First Team three times and was a 2021 ACVA All-American. Waden spent her college career at Mississippi State.

Both camps will provide high-level training from the SEC athletes, as well as opportunities to take photos with a 2020 NCAA championship trophy, SEC rings and more.

Friday’s camp, set for 6 – 8 p.m., is for boys and girls ages 8 to 14.

Saturday’s camp, for high school girls in grades 9 – 12, will run from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Both camps will be held at the First Church of the Nazarene, located at 902 St. Andrews Rd. in Columbia.

Cost for attending a camp is $70. The link to register is available at blythewoodonline.com.
