CLINTON – From the looks of the Griffin’s win column, they’ve found their groove. The Griffin boys picked up their fifth win in a row on Tuesday at Clinton in a one-point thriller.
Looking to keep the win train on track, Fairfield charged out to a five point lead in the first quarter against the Red Devils on Tuesday.
Clinton took back the momentum in the second quarter, outscoring Fairfield 18-7 to hold a 29-23 lead at halftime.
Fairfield outscored Clinton by three in the third, narrowing the Clinton lead to 44-41. The Griffins finished out the game, holding Clinton to just eight points and putting up 12 to claim the 53-52 win and move to 4-0 in region play.
It was win number nine on the season – the most wins the program has picked up since the 2015-2016 season.
Junior Khaleb Feaster led the Griffins with 16 points and three assists. Thomas Johnson had seven rebounds and nine points. Rashawn Brown had five assists and seven points.
Fairfield played Eau Claire on Wednesday, but scores were not available before The Voice’s press deadline. In their first meeting of the season, the Griffins downed Eau Claire on Jan. 14 with a 40-35 final.
Next week they’re on the road at Columbia on Tuesday, then at Mid-Carolina on Thursday.
