WINNSBORO – The Midlands STEM Charter School in Winnsboro announced recently that it will work with the Governor’s School of Math and Science for the 2025-2026 school year.

“This incredible opportunity allows eligible Midlands STEM students to take advanced STEM courses on the Midlands STEM’s campus,” said Dr. Lionel Kennedy, the school’s CEO. “Students completing this cohort will receive the Governor’s School of Math and Science endorsement, plus dual enrollment credit hours.”

Midlands STEM is a free public charter school serving Pre-K to 12th grades. The school’s program has undergone a few changes in the last few months. The board has hired new leadership and moved into a new campus building, located at 854 Hwy 321 Business South in Winnsboro.

Currently, MSCS offers six sports teams. Students who play a sport that is not offered at MSCS are eligible to play at the student’s designated school without penalty.

Midlands STEM is expecting to reach its maximum enrollment of 400 students this fall.

Perhaps the most notable and positive improvement has been the creation of a number of new academic programs that will enhance students and their South Carolina Graduation profile. One significant addition is the partnerships with other Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) organizations, business and institutions of higher learning, such as the S.C. Governor’s School collaboration.

For more information about this STEM opportunity, email Dr. Kennedy at [email protected] to schedule a visit. To learn more about this program and other new program offerings at Midlands STEM’s Pre-K thru 12th grades, attend one of these scheduled events on the campus. Families will be notified of their acceptance immediately after the session. As grades levels are filled, students will be placed on a waiting list.
