BLYTHEWOOD – After three seasons as head of the Redhawk football program, Robert O’Connell announced his departure from Westwood.
The announcement comes on the heels of the 2024 season, when O’Connell and the Redhawks, who moved up to 5A, went 6-6 and had a fourth place finish in the region. They bowed out of the Division 2 playoffs after a second-round loss to Berkeley.
In March of 2022, O’Connell was named as the successor for Matt Quinn, who departed for a head coaching position at North August High School. Quinn’s time at Westwood also ended after three seasons.
