Bengals soccer downs RV, Setzler picks up win 100

BLYTHEWOOD – With last Tuesday’s 6-0 win over Ridge View High School, Blythewood High School head soccer coach Robby Setzler tallied his 100th career win.

The Bengals led 4-0 at halftime and added two more goals in the second half for their fifth region win of the season.

Christian Paez had two goals in the win; Paxton Brunetto, Josiah Sands, Cayden Berzins and Ryan Hall accounted for the four other scores. Sophomore Daulton Purcell had a team-high four assists. Joshua Lewis had one assist.

The win was the second in a string of four wins for the Bengals over the past few weeks.

Blythewood followed their Ridge View win last week with a 12-0 win over Westwood on Friday.

Purcell led the Bengal offense with three goals and one assist. Lewis, Ashton Davis, Paez, Cole Brunecz, Jedediah Weems, Magnus Thorpe, Vincent Cornelison, Cayden Berzins and Aboagye Agyenim-boateng scored one apiece. Liam Flynn amd Agyenim-boateng had two assists. Lewis, Purcell, Paez, Cornelison, Leonel Rojas, Nrunecz and Davis had an assist each.

The Bengals picked up their fourth straight win on Tuesday with a 4-1 take over Spring Valley. Paez scored twice; Lewis and Hall had a goal each.  Assists were by Lewis (2), Paez, Purcell and Thorpe.

The Bengals, now 11-3, will host Lugoff-Elgin on Friday and are slated to face Legion Collegiate, Ben Lippen, and Woodland in next week’s Nike Palmetto Cup at Saluda Shoals Park.
