BHS shows up big at Twilight Invitational

COLUMBIA – Blythewood’s girls’ track and field team claimed first place in the Twilight Invitational at Ridge View High School on April 4. The Bengal girls’ scored 70 to secure first out of 29 teams. Cuthbertson High School finished second with 59.

The Bengal boys finished third out of 32 teams with a team score of 47. Ridge View took first at 59 and Cuthbertson finished second at 49.

Blythewood set six new program records at the twilight event:

  • Jacob Powell: 3K, 8:51.83 (1st place)
  • Anna Kelly: 3K, 10:30.29 (1st place)
  • Tyler Davis: Discus, 50.35m (1st place)
  • Spencer Shealy, 1500, 4:03.17 (5th place)
  • Girls Distance Medley Relay Team, 12:25.21 (1st place)
  • Boys 800m Sprint Medley Relay Team, 1:32.08 (3rd place)

Blythewood Girls

Aside from Kelly’s 1st place finish for the girls in 3K, Brooke Bramlett had a season-fastest time of 14.63 in 100m hurdles for a second place finish. The 4×200 meter relay team took second with a time of 1:42.44.

In the 100m, Olivia Taylor (12.06) and Brittany Benson (12.19) claimed the four and five spots.  Mallorie Hogue finished fourth in 3K at 10:46.12. Alexis Jones and Aubreigh LeSane both finished fourth in high jump at 1.57m. The girls’ 800m sprint medley relay team claimed fourth at 1:48.69.

Blythewood Boys

Davis and Powell had the only first place individual finishes on the day. Shealy took fifth in 1500m run, and Santana Wright finished fifth in discus at 46.91m.

The boys’ 4x200m relay team took second at 1:26.91.

Up Next

The Bengals will break for the next week, but return from Spring Break to compete in the Bob Jenkins Coaches Classic Elite meet on Friday, April 25 at Spring Valley High School.
