Griffins compete at All-American Classic

COLUMBIA – Despite competing in only seven events at the All American track Classic at Spring Valley High School last weekend, Fairfield Central’s boys’ team tied for tenth place out of 83 teams.

The boys’ 4×100 meter relay team took the Griffins’ only first place spot on the day. Fairfield’s team of Jamie Brown, Jayden Boyd, TyQuarius Shannon and Tydarion Grier finished at 41.48 seconds. Independence High School came in second at 41.61.

Boyd finished second in the 200 meter dash at 21.41. Ja’Neil Harris from T.W. Andrews in High point, NC, took first at 21.16.

Distance standout Hank White claimed ninth out of 177 runners in the 800 meter run with a 1:56.26 finish, just shy of his 1:56.12 PR. Colin Abrams of Bullis in Potomac, MD, finished first at 1:50.79.

Brown placed 11th in the 400 meter dash with a new personal best time: 48.98. Cameron Homer from Bullis in Potomac, MD, took first place at 47.54.

Despite taking first in the prelims with a 10.68 time, Grier finished 12th in the 100 meter dash finals at 10.72. Ja’Neil Harris from T.W. Andrews in High point, NC, took first at 10.35.

Christian Hingleton finished 21st out of 103 competing in long jump at 21-00.5. Jahmari Malone from Wando High School in Mount Pleasant took first at 22-10.00. 

The Griffins are off this week, but return April 23 to compete at Richland Northeast, then in the Bob Jenkins Coaches Classic Elite Meet on Friday, April 25.
