WINNSBORO – After a 13-3 wrap of the regular season, Richard Winn baseball was one of two teams to earn a first round bye in the SCISA Class 1A state tournament. With only six teams in the tournament and dominating pitching performances this week, Eagles are looking for a repeat of their 2024 SCISA title.
Richard Winn hosted two-seeded Jefferson Davis on Monday for game one of the best-of-three series. Senior Charlie Bonds was dominant on the mound for the Eagles, striking out 18 of the 22 batters he faced as the Eagles took a 4-1 win at home.
In Blackville on Tuesday, the Eagles snuffed out the Raiders’ title chances with a 4-0 win. Johnathan Bonds took the win. He worked a complete game, striking out 11 and allowing six hits and no runs.
Holly Hill Academy and Malboro Academy faced off this week for a spot in the semi-final series. The Eagles (15-3) will play next week for a three-game series to determine the SCISA 1A State Champion. They will play at home Monday, then on the road for game two. Game three, if needed, will be played at Richard Winn.
