WINNSBORO – “The need for food among our residents continues to grow–every week we have 2-3 new families register for food bank services,” said Food Bank Director Wendy Luce.
To meet this demand, the Food Bank is planning to move to a larger facility where greater quantities of food can be stored to expand operations.
Luce said, however, that the move is heavily dependent on receiving more help and donations.
“We need additional funds to double our food supply,” she said. “We currently serve 122 families each month and spend $3,000 monthly on food purchases,” she said. Luce said that relocating to the former Behavioral Health building at 200 Calhoun Street in Winnsboro will increase the Food Bank’s storage but more financial support is necessary to address the needs of its growing client base.
The needs are many at the new facility, Luce said, including an estimated $200,000 in renovations. Those renovations include:
- A covered 8’ x 12’ deck on the back of the building for grocery transport.
- Installation of two exterior doors to access the side deck
- Service counters
- A concrete pad for an external cooler installation
Partnership Opportunities
Partnerships play a vital role in making this move to the new building a reality. The Food Bank offers a variety of sponsorship levels with exclusive opportunities and recognition.
“We can customize sponsorship packages tailored to a partner’s needs,” Luce said.
