FAIRFIELD COUNTY – Kathy Faulk, President of the Hoof & Paw Benevolent Society, and member Boo Major presented two donations during Monday night’s county council meeting aimed at improving animal welfare in Fairfield County.

The first presentation — a $7,250 gift to the Fairfield County Animal Shelter, presented to Shelter Director Jo Shaw — will fund spay surgeries for shelter animals, making it more cost-effective for rescue partners to pull pets into their programs.

The second donation, $2,000 to Because of Roscoe, will support free spay/neuter surgeries in the community. While the check will be presented later to founder Samira Yaghi who was not present at the meeting, Faulk stressed that spay/neuter programs are the most effective way to address overpopulation, stray intake, and animal neglect cases.
