COLUMBIA – Fairfield Central (2-1) racked up their second straight shutout with a 56-0 win over C.A. Johnson at Bolden Stadium in Columbia Friday.
The night was all Griffins as the offense put up big numbers and the defense produced big stops.
Senior Kaden Diggs and junior Kamauri Jones combined to go 8-for-8 in passing for 152 yards, including an 82-yard touchdown reception from Junior Ty’quarius Shannon.
The Griffins tallied 263 rushing yards in 28 carries. Juniors Kenyan Douglas and Wayne Johnson ran in two touchdowns apiece. Douglas racked up 65 yards on seven carries. Johnson had 38 yards on 6 carries. Diggs also ran in a touchdown. Derek Cammon, a senior, had 10 carries for 70 yards. Kamauri Jones had two carries for 55 yards.
The Griffin defense shut out the Hornets, holding them to only 58 yards of total offense. They had 20 solo tackles, 51 assisted tackles, two sacks, three tackles for loss, four QB hurries, an interception, and forced two Hornet fumbles.
Senior Owen Wilson led the Griffin backfield with 9 total tackles, two solo. Wilson was also credited with forcing a Hornet fumble and two QB hurries. Breone Whitaker also forced a fumble, and freshman safety Kaylin Culp had an interception.
Kingston Peay and Jaysen Leaphart had a sack each.
Fairfield Central plays host to Lewisville (2-1) Friday for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff.
