WINNSBORO – In their first meeting of the season, Richard Winn faced an uphill climb at home against King Academy (3-0) last Friday. The Knights toppled the Eagles 46-28.

King took charge of the game from opening kickoff and never relented.

The Knight-dominated first quarter would prove to be the difference maker in the long run. Trailing 22-8 at the end of the first quarter, the Eagles matched King’s touchdowns for the remainder of the game.

Down 30-14 at halftime, the both teams punched in two more scores in the second half to end in a 46-38 final and give the defending 8-man championship Eagles their second loss of the season.

The two teams will meet again on Oct. 10, this time on King’s home field in Batesburg.

Now 1-2 on the season, Richard Winn will hit the road to face an undefeated Laurens Academy (3-0) squad this week. Last week, the Crusaders defeated Christian Academy 42-16.

Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
