CHAPIN – Blythewood and Westwood cross country teams took to Chapin on Sept. 20 for the Lake Murray Invitational.
Blythewood’s Jacob Powell finished first in the Varsity Boys run out of 276 runners. Bengal senior Anna Kelly finished just seconds behind Julia McKenna in the Varsity Girls run for second place out of 273 runners.
Boys
The Bengal boys finished in sixth place out of 33 teams. Westwood’s boys team came in 18th place.
Behind Powell’s’ first place 15:36.19 finish, Blythewood’s Dillan Boyer came in 25th place at 16:41.21. Anthony Knight, Johnathon Lenker, and Jack Smith rounded out Blythewood’s scores. Knight finished at 17:29.30 for 52nd place, Lenker came in 57th at 17:53.93, and Smith clocked 17:53.93 for 73rd place. Julius Galvin also came in under 18 minutes at 17:54.70 for 74th place.
The Westwood boys were led by Sean Bullock, who finished at 17:56.50 in 75th place. Aiden Adkins came in on Bullock’s heels at 17:59.54 for 79th place. Blaize Owen and Ty Owen came in next for Westwood at 18:48.91 and 19:29.79 respectively. Bobby Quick also finished under twenty minutes at 19:38.20.
Girls
Blythewood’s girls team finished in ninth place out of 32 teams. Westwood placed 24th.
Anna Kelly led the Bengal girls with her 18:23.89 second place finish. She was followed by Paige Kelly at 20:15.43 for 37th place. Scarlett Baker came in at 20:35.02 in 52nd place. Aubrey Watson and Lauren Benson finished at 21:48.32 and 21:58.01, respectively.
Westwood’s girls team was led by Christina Tyndall, who came in 29th place overall at 20:07.03. Rebecca Ashley finished at 21:03.31 in 64th place. Gabrielle Singleton finished at 25:30.38, and Zakiya Carter came in at 26:38.91.

On Saturday, Oct. 4, Blythewood will head to Charlotte for the Wendy’s Invitational, while Westwood is set to run in West Florence’s Melee at the Kastle. Blythewood will hit the Bob Jenkins Coaches Classic on Oct. 11 before hosting Westwood for a meet on Oct. 15. Westwood will host their second home meet on Oct. 22.
