Eagles win big on the road

MYRTLE BEACH – Richard Winn kept its foot on the pedal in Myrtle Beach last Friday as they cruised to a 50-8 win against Myrtle Beach Christian Academy. 

Senior Bennett Nicholson connected with Dylan Wood for a 35-yard score to put the Eagles on the board. A successful two-point conversion gave the Eagles an early 8-0 lead. Nicholson ran in another before the quarter ended. A failed point-after put Richard Winn up 14-0. 

Nicholson connected with Johnathan Bonds early in the second quarter. The two-point conversion was good; the Eagles led 22-0. Eli Smith ran in the next two touchdowns, one 20-yards out, to put the Eagles up 36-0 at halftime. 

Monty Sharpe ran in a 32-yard score in the third; the PAT was good. 

Down 43-0 with a running clock in the fourth quarter, Myrtle Beach Christian found the end zone for their only score of the game. 

Walker Blackwelder closed out the night, running in a touchdown from seven yards out. The PAT gave Richard Winn a 50-8 lead. 

Entering the second half of their season, Richard Winn opens region play for their homecoming game against Newberry Academy on Friday. Kickoff is 7:30 p.m.
