Griffins breeze past Rebels

WINNSBORO – Fairfield Central opened Region 3-2A play with a 41-7 victory over the Rebels Friday night at E.K. McLendon Stadium.

Fueled by the run game, the Griffin offense picked up 238 yards on the ground. Senior Derek Cammon had 112 yards in 12 carries. Kenyan Douglas had 54 yards in 13 carries. Diggs averaged 7 yards per carry, picking up 49 yards in 7 runs.

Kaden Diggs had a game-long 60 yard touchdown pass. Kamauri Jones also spent time under center. He completed three of six passes for 19 yards.

Now 5-2 (1-0 in region play) on the season, the Griffins turn to the final quarter of the regular season to face region play. They travel to Chester Friday for a 7:30 kickoff.

 The Cyclones (4-3, 1-0) beat Eau Claire 41-8 last week.

The Griffins will travel to Eau Claire on Oct. 17, then host Columbia on Oct. 31 for their final regular season game.
