Eagle runners win second straight SCISA 1A Championship

COLUMBIA – The Richard Winn Academy girls cross-country team claimed its second straight SCISA class 1A championship Saturday, beating out Marlboro County 23-33 at the Heathwood Hall campus.

Freshman Hayden Branham was the individual winner of the 1A race, coming in at 20 minutes, 42.97 seconds. Teammate Ada Bass, an eighth grader, finished fourth with a time of 22:34.11. Freshman Lillian Trapp took sixth with a time of 23:16.33. Sophomore Harper Branham finished 21st and sophomore Meghan Guzzi finished 30th to round out the Eagles’ top finishers.

In the boys 1A race, Richard Winn freshman Euan Fleisher finished 15th with a time of 20:43.30. Sophomore Liam Fleisher finished 33rd, freshman Michael Sanders finished 36th, and eighth-grader Flynn Berry finished 41st.
