Westwood boys keep pounding Region 5-5A

BLYTHEWOOD – Three Westwood boys scored in double figures Tuesday night as the Redhawks basketball team (15-1, 4-0 Region 5-5A) whipped Lugoff-Elgin (10-8, 3-2) 63-38 Tuesday night at The Castle.

Jayden Crews had 20 points and six rebounds, D’Marcus Thomas had 15 points, five assists, and five boards, and Cylan McLeod also had 15 points, five assists and five rebounds. Daytron Cockfield had a school-record eight blocked shots.

The Redhawks beat the Vikings 61-49 at Spring Valley Friday. Thomas followed up on his 27-point, three-assist night in Westwood’s victory over Ridge View Jan. 3 with 20 points and four assists at Spring Valley.

The Westwood girls (9-8, 0-3) also played Lugoff-Elgin (4-10, 1-3) Tuesday night.

The Redhawks fell 46-42 at Spring Valley Friday night. Amari Alexander had 16 points and Lyric Rogers had 12 points.

Westwood is at West Florence Friday and plays host to Sumter Tuesday.
