The Voice of Blythewood & Fairfield County

Steven Farrell Connor

Steven Farrell Connor, born and raised in Winnsboro, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on September 18, 2025, at the age of 78 in Vero Beach, Florida.

Steve was family-oriented in every way: a proud husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and, because friendships were so important to him, friend.

It was almost impossible not to know him if you encountered him, because his extroverted personality ensured no one was a stranger.

Like his father, he was charismatic and a man of faith. Like his mother, he was a sweet soul fond of talking.

Steve was an admirer of sports cars, and out of kindness was known for washing any car that parked in his driveway. He loved both the mountains and the sea and didn’t shy away from the water, whether swimming in a river or boating and fishing on a lake.

He and his wife, Claire, were inseparable up until his last breath in VNA Hospice House in Vero, the town the couple moved to from Blythewood in 2021 to retire (he was a longtime food salesman, spending most of his career with JFG Coffee Co.).

Steve is survived by his wife, Claire Connor; son, Eric Connor; grandchildren Asa and Aden Connor; brother Duane and sister-in-law Starr Connor; and six nieces and nephews: Hannah Connor Fowler (husband Scott), Rebecca Connor Bishop (husband Jiles), and Dee, Virginia, Leigh and Elijah Connor. He is preceded in death by his father, Ecker Fernell Connor, and mother, Nell Collins Connor.

A small service was held October 25, 2025, at Renaissance Senior Living of Vero Beach.

Another service celebrating his life will be held at a later date in his hometown area.
