Mavericks XC compete at North Central, Great Falls

WINNSBORO – Midlands STEM Institute’s cross country team ran in its second meet of the season at North Central High School on Sept. 12.

Christopher Parker finished first for the Mavericks and in 46th place overall out of 60 runners with a time of 25:56.80. Leahman Knotts finished at 27:39.90, and Isaiah Pierce finished at 33:32.80. Robert Pierce came in with a time of 34:18, and Jake Younts rounded out the Maverick score with a 35:41.40 finish.

Riley Evans was the lone Maverick runner for the girls. She finished with a 39:23.10 time for 30th place.

The Mavericks opened their season on Sept. 5 at Great Falls. Parker finished first at 28:39.10. Calvin Kowalke had a time of 34:12.20; Knotts finished at 34:14.40, and Isaiah Pierce finished at 36:48.50. Shinyla Leath was the only girls’ runner; she finished at 52.26.

Midlands STEM is set to run again today at York High School and on Sept. 27 at Blythewood High School. They’ll travel across Winnsboro to Richard Winn for the Eagle Classic on Oct. 10.
