The proposal to implement costly required business licensing is just another roadblock to Fairfield County business activity. Fairfield should be inviting businesses with pro-business policies, rather than erecting barriers to economic expansion and promoting economic contraction with more taxation and bureaucracy.
Additionally, SC businesses have too many options to avoid more county licensing and its taxation and bureaucratic burdens, since only nine SC counties require business licensing- Beaufort County, Beaufort, Charleston, Dorchester, Horry, Jasper, Marion, Orangeburg, Richland, and Sumter.
Let’s focus on promoting Fairfield as a business-friendly county to drive the positive domino effects of new business rather than the downward spiral caused by more barriers to businesses.
