Despite a secretive selection process for selecting committee members, waiving the council’s own qualification stipulations, and turning a blind eye to members’ conflicts of interest, there are some positive first steps in bringing the submitted ordinance recommendations to a higher and more acceptable standard. We now have an opportunity to improve and finish the job. The rest of the citizens can share their input with their council members until the hearing and final vote on Dec. 8.
Don’t let the very real potential of being called “fringe” deter you from exercising your free speech rights to advocate for compassionate animal welfare, community safety, and the Fairfield County brand.
