The rating indicates that the school substantially exceeds state performance standards. According to the report, the distinction reflects strong academic growth and demonstrates that students are on track to meet the rigorous criteria of the “Profile of the South Carolina Graduate.”

Principal Karis Mazyck attributed the success to the collective effort of the Charger community, emphasizing that the rating is a result of the daily dedication of students, teachers, staff, and families who work together to support one another.

“This achievement belongs to the entire school community,” Mazyck said. “We hold high expectations because we believe in the potential of every learner.”

School officials noted that the high marks are the result of a year-long focus on strengthening instruction, expanding student opportunities, and maintaining an engaging school culture. The achievement cements Blythewood Middle’s position as a model of academic success within Richland School District Two.

The accolade for the school follows significant recognition for its leadership; Mazyck was previously named the 2024 South Carolina Middle Level Principal of the Year.
