Every so often life gives you a moment that feels almost unreal. That happened to me this past Sunday during the preview of a brand-new project I’m part of, The Auxdacity. Standing in the SCETV studio, I had to laugh to myself.
“Somewhere between reruns of Arthur, Sesame Street, and PBS NewsHour… these people are really about to let me host a show on their channel?!” Ain’t life a trip? Let me officially introduce you to what we’ve been building.
The Auxdacity is a new show coming to South Carolina ETV in February. At its core, it’s a podcast, but it’s also much more than that. It’s a space where we tap into the pulse of the people through music, politics, and culture and explore how all these pieces influence one another. It’s engaging, informative, entertaining, and fills a major gap in our media landscape.
Most folks interact with public television and radio at two points in life: early childhood or later adulthood. And let me confess something. As a teenager I used to make fun of my sister Kaela and her friends for listening to NPR. Now look at me. Hosting a show on public television. Ha! Sorry about that Kaela.
This is something new for South Carolina. A show that blends honest conversation, cultural storytelling, music, community voices, and real issues, told from perspectives that reflect the world we actually live in. We will feature guests you may not know yet but absolutely should. Their voices matter, and their stories help us see our state through a wider and richer lens.
For me, this opportunity carries a special kind of weight. If The Auxdacity succeeds, then Ridgeway shines. Fairfield County shines. Blythewood shines. With me on this show, the communities I come from and represent have a voice at a brand-new table reaching across the entire state.
If you are wondering how you can support something new like this, it’s simple. Anytime you see me share something about the show, like it and share it. Follow South Carolina ETV on social media. Tune in when we premiere in February. And if you are able, consider donating to SCETV because programs like this truly are made possible by “viewers like you.” I have been waiting my whole life to say that line.
At the end of the day, The Auxdacity fits perfectly into my life’s work. Teaching, coaching, comedy, hosting. It’s all voice work. It’s all connection. It’s all community.
This is just the beginning. South Carolina, something new is coming.
