Letter: New Courthouse Entry is an Unreasonable Burden

First let me say that I understand the need for the armed security at the entry to the Fairfield County Courthouse that is imposed by the times we live in.

However, the new entry to the Courthouse to reach the office of the Treasurer to pay taxes imposes an unreasonable burden on the taxpayer. However slight this burden may be, it did not previously exist. Other offices are likewise affected.

Moreover, the Courthouse is an important symbol of the sovereignty and authority of the government. Entry of the taxpayer and other citizens through the front door of the Courthouse imparts a sense of dignity and importance to the user that is an important feature of the structure of government.

I am informed and believe that there are a number of others who share my opinion.

Yours truly,

John D. McLeod
