BLYTHEWOOD — Two student leaders at Westwood High School earned national recognition for their commitment to service and their impact on the school community. The National Association of Student Councils (NASC) recently announced honors for Junior Class President Kaleb Haynie and Sophomore Class Vice President KJ Lemon.
Haynie was awarded a $1,500 NASC Leadership Scholarship, sponsored by Allstate. The scholarship is designed to recognize students who demonstrate exceptional leadership, a commitment to service, and a dedication to amplifying the “student voice” within their schools.
According to school officials, the scholarship recognizes Haynie’s consistent efforts to represent and uplift his peers in his role as the Redhawks’ junior class president.
Lemon was awarded an $800 NASC grant. This project-focused grant will be used to support a major upcoming school event: the Sophomore House’s annual Special Education Prom. The event’s goal is to ensure all students have the opportunity to enjoy a traditional high school milestone in an inclusive, supportive environment.
The NASC is a national organization that provides student council members with resources and leadership training to better serve their local campuses.
