Meet Mark Palmer

I am Mark Palmer of York, and I am running as a Republican for the S.C. Senate seat in District 17. I am the candidate who will oppose Mike Fanning in November. I was born in South Carolina and am a graduate of Winthrop College. I have been married to Holly Palmer for 20 years since we met in a science class there and together, discovered chemistry. We have one daughter who is 17 years old and attends public school in York.

I am a Ruling Elder at Filbert Presbyterian Church and on the board of the Released Time Bible Study program at York 1 School District. I retired from the S.C. Army National Guard after 28 years of service with one tour in Iraq (2003-2004) and was awarded the Bronze Star Medal and the Meritorious Service Medal. I volunteered for a second tour in 2006 but destroyed my knees one week before shipping overseas and spent eight months in the Eisenhower Army Medical Center at Fort Gordon, Ga. I am presently employed by United Refrigeration International as a system administrator in Rock Hill.

I am running for this office because the S.C. Senate has stopped serving the hardworking people of South Carolina, and I think it is time that we restored the relationship between the legislature and the people it represents.
