BHS, WHS tennis end seasons

COLUMBIA – The Blythewood boys’ tennis team ended their 2018 season last week with a 2 – 4 loss to Spring Valley. Spring Valley opened the match with wins in their first three individual match-ups. Shyam Gonesh Baku kicked off the night with a straight-set victory for the Vikings, and Abli Nair and Chase Brantley followed suit.

Blythewood’s David Burns keep hope alive for the Bengals with a win over Sandeep Soloman, but in the next match-up Matthew Vaughn won and put the meet out of the Bengals’ reach.

The Bengals closed their season out on a high in doubles competition. Turner Hoffman and Morgan Marshall downed Siddarth Gianey and Ethan Bidwill in three sets.


BLYTHEWOOD – The Westwood boys’ tennis team pulled off a clutch win on Senior Night against Ridge View to clinch their first ever playoff bid. They were seeded against the defending 4A state champs, South Aiken, in the first round and struggled to keep up. The Thoroughbreds cruised to a 6-0 victory.
