Annual Blythewood Rodeo Kicks Off Friday Night

Pam Treadwell leads the parade of paint horses during the opening of last year’s Blythewood rodeo.

The annual Blythewood Rodeo will be in town June 22 and 23 in the field next to the Blythewood Community Center across from the Food Lion shopping center on Blythewood Road. The rodeo is sponsored by Wilson Chevrolet of Winnsboro.

The colorful opening ceremonies will feature a precision performance by Pam Treadway’s paint horses as well as a moving patriotic tribute to each division of the U. S. military.

Besides the usual rodeo acts, Jessica Blair and her well-known equine, the Roman Team, will be this year’s featured act. There will also be clowns and, of course, cowgirl barrel racing.

Food and souvenir vendors will be located near the arena and there will be big toys and pony rides for children.

Gates open at 6 p.m., and the rodeo begins at 8 p.m. both Friday and Saturday.

Tickets are $12 in advance through June 21 at Scotties Bar & Grill, George’s Feed & Seed, Royson’s Blythewood Auto and Blythewood Town Hall; $15 at the gate; $5 for Youths 6-12; Buckaroos 5 and under are free.
