Mary Singleterry

Destin, Fla: Mrs. Mary Singleterry, age 98, of Destin, Fla. passed away Aug. 24, 2012. She was born Jan. 10, 1914 in Winnsboro, S.C. to George Long and Willie Stevenson Long.

Mrs. Singleterry was a resident of Walton County. She was Presbyterian by faith and a member of the Sunrise Presbyterian Church in Sullivans Island, S.C. She was a member of Fairfield County Historical Society, Daughters of the American Revolution and United Daughters of the Confederacy. She was a Deacon of the First Presbyterian Church in Ridgewood, N.J.

Mrs. Singleterry is preceded in death by her father and mother, husband William Augustus Singleterry of 46 years, one daughter, Mary Augusta Makela, and one grandson, Mark Griffin.

Mrs. Singleterry is survived by her daughters Margaret Bush and husband William of Freeport, Fla. and Ann Osenga Shook of Rio Rancho, N.M., eight grandchildren: Elizabeth Dewedoff, Kevin Griffin, Amy Griffin, William Van Zile, Margaret Ann Chavez, Ryan Osenga, Kelly Bush and Britton Bush, nine great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.

A time of visitation will be held 6-8 p.m, Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2012 at Pope Funeral Home at 521 S. Congress St. Winnsboro, S.C.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2012 at Sion Presbyterian Church in Winnsboro, S.C.

Burial will follow in the Lebanon Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Winnsboro, S.C.
