Harry Gene Berry

BLYTHEWOOD – Harry Gene Berry, 69, of Blythewood, died Friday, March 8, 2013. Born Sept. 10, 1943 in Blythewood he was a son of the late Jesse Lee Berry and Dessie Fulmer Berry. A lifelong member of Killian Baptist Church, Harry graduated from Eau Claire High and was on the school football team. Mr. Berry went on to become the president and co-owner of B&W Lumber Company.

Survivors include his daughter, Marie Berry; sisters, Faye (Tom) Byrd and Libby (Furman) Mattox; brother, Steve (Toni) Berry; sisters-in-law, Renee’ Berry, Carolyn (James) Key and Betty Goodale; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; and dear friend, Kathy Lee. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, of 47 years, Emily Goodale Berry; a sister, June Gantt; brother, J. L. Berry; and brother-in-law, Jimmy Goodale.

The funeral service for Mr. Berry will be held at 3 o’clock Monday, March 11 at Killian Baptist Church with the Rev. Richard A. Humphries officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 o’clock Sunday evening at Shives Funeral Home, 5202 Colonial Drive, Columbia.
