Soccer: Lady Bengals dump Cavs, boys try to keep pace

The Blythewood Lady Bengals soccer team (14-2, 8-1) defeated the Lady Cavaliers (8-8, 1-8) of Richland Northeast on Tuesday night 3-0. With that victory the Lady Bengals won the season series against Richland Northeast by a combined score of 9-0 in two games. Blythewood will close out region play tonight (April 19) with a home game against Ridge View (6-10, 3-6). The Lady Bengals won the previous matchup by a score of 1-0 back on March 22. With a win tonight Blythewood will clinch at least a share of the Region IV-4A title. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.

In the latest poll released this week, the Lady Bengals are ranked seventh in the state in 4A.

The Blythewood boys’ soccer team (8-6, 5-2) will play at Ridge View (0-14, 0-8) tonight with kickoff scheduled for 7:30 p.m. The Bengals need a win in order to keep pace with Region IV-4A leader, Spring Valley (11-4, 7-1). Blythewood is coming off a 4-0 loss at Dutch Fork last Saturday. Before that the Bengals won back to back non-region games, including a 2-1 win over North Myrtle Beach last Friday and a 4-1 victory at Airport high school on April 11.
