Samantha Smith, a sophomore hunt seat rider for the USC equestrian team, guides her mount over a vertical during a competition at One Wood Farm in Blythewood last year. Smith was named to the 2012-13 SEC All-Freshman Equestrian Team. The Gamecocks open the 2013 season Friday.
