Eugene Neves

LAKE WATEREE – Funeral services with military honors for Mr. Eugene Edgar Neves, age 79, will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 21, 2014 at Fort Jackson National Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 11 a.m. – 12 p.m. at Pope Funeral Home, 521 S. Congress St. in Winnsboro, S.C. 29180.

Mr. Neves passed away on Saturday, Aug. 16, 2014. Born in Providence, RI, he was the son of the late Joseph and Alice Bans Neves. He was an Eagle Scout, loved all sports, especially Redskins football, and was an accomplished artist. He received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Rhode Island School of Design. He started his 22 year military career in the U.S. Navy and continued in the U.S. Army, including service in Vietnam, and retired as a Major in the U.S. Army in 1979.

In addition to his loving wife of 34 years Mrs. Mary Jane Tice Neves, he is survived by one son, Eugene Neves; two daughters, Lisa Woldt and Patricia Carprew; one step-daughter, Doris Barger; two brothers, Joseph G. Neves and Arthur G. Neves; three sisters, Constance M. Gonsalves, Ruth A. Clements and Naomi E. Kiggins; and eight grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in the Parkinson’s disease Foundation, 1359 Broadway Suite 1509, NY, NY 10018.
