WINNSBORO – Even though the season is still very young, the Richard Winn varsity volleyball team is showing signs of greatness. The team was victorious in all four of their pre-season jamboree matches at Newberry College on last Saturday, defeating Union County High School, Mid-Carolina High School, King Academy and Laurens Academy. The season opener at Richard Winn on Monday against Lewisville High School was equally successful for the Lady Eagles. RWA defeated the Lady Lions in three straight games, 25-6, 25-12, 25-10. Prior to the varsity match, coach Rachel Peake guided her JV players to their first win also, defeating the Lewisville JV team in two straight games.

Their early success comes from the hard work in the weight room and on the practice court as the players and coaches committed time during the summer to improve all areas of their game, and it shows.

The Lady Eagle volleyball teams matched up against the Lady Falcons of Ben Lippen School Thursday. Next week the RWA teams travel to Lewisville on Aug. 25, to compete against the Lady Lions once again.
