WINNSBORO – The Richard Winn Lady Eagles started off Tuesday’s Class A/Region II SCISA match-up with the Lady Crusaders of Laurens Academy sluggishly and with plenty of missed opportunities, then quickly blew the game wide open. The Lady Eagles recovered with great defense and a strong shooting display as they dismantled the Lady Crusaders 55-34.

The Lady Eagles missed several open shots to begin the game giving Laurens Academy an opportunity to use their patience and draw close to the Lady Eagles. After one quarter of play, the Lady Crusaders were down only 6 and could smell an upset. But the Lady Eagles opened the second quarter on a 9-3 run as Jessie Stidham scored 7 straight to ignite RWA. Laurens had no answer to the Lady Eagles’ dominance in the post area as they gave RWA too many second chance opportunities. Richard Winn took full advantage, stretching their lead to 36-20 at the half.

Both squads missed on some wide-open looks to start the third as neither team could take full control of the contest. Despite a low scoring output in the second half for both teams, the Lady Eagles still won by a commanding margin.

The Lady Eagles had three players in double figures, with Stidham leading all scorers with 20 points. The Lady Crusaders were led by Taylor Williamson with 15 points.
